Steven Spielberg officially opened a mammoth exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of Jaws, the film that pioneered summer blockbusters. On the campus of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, Jaws: The Exhibition is the largest such exhibition ever devoted to a single film in the museum's history.

Spreading across 11,000 square feet, the exhibit is an immersive tour of the 1975 thriller featuring more than 200 original artifacts, the majority previously unseen by the public. Ranging from the infamous buoy seen in the first scene to the mechanical shark "Bruce," the show delivers a scene-by-scene look at how the film was made.

The interactive displays allow visitors to recreate iconic scenes, such as the dolly zoom of Roy Scheider's wide-eyed face and John Williams' ominous two-note theme. Spielberg, reminiscing on the film's stormy shoot on Martha's Vineyard, recalled surviving adversity against nature, malfunctioning props, and studio doubts. "I thought my career was over at the halfway point," he admitted, "but the camaraderie kept us going.".

The cultural history of Jaws is also explored in the exhibition, including its impact on ocean protection and its role in starting Spielberg's legendary career. A full retrospective of the director's work will arrive in 2028.

Jaws: The Exhibition opens September 14, 2025, and runs through July 26, 2026, and is a must-attend experience for film enthusiasts, Spielberg fans, and anyone who adores the shark that rattled Hollywood to its foundation.
