Snowflake Acquires Crunchy Data for $250M to Boost AI and PostgreSQL Capabilities

Snowflake has disclosed that it's buying Crunchy Data, a leading enterprise PostgreSQL services company, for $250 million. Closing of the strategic acquisition reaffirms Snowflake's leadership in the AI and open-source database industry with the union of Crunchy Data's expertise in secure and scalable deployments of PostgreSQL. The acquisition aims to further augment Snowflake's support for AI workloads as well as make it more compatible with open-source technologies, an increasingly needed requirement from enterprise customers. Through this acquisition, Snowflake seeks to offer a more comprehensive solution for data teams and developers working in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The deal is expected to close in the later half of the current year.
