Lionel Richie hospitalized after St Louis concert performance

Lionel Richie ended up in the hospital in St. Louis after his show at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday, August 29. Right after he wrapped up his set, he checked himself into a local hospital and now he’s under observation in the ICU.

People at the concert noticed Richie seemed worn out by the end. He asked for a chair during his last song, “All Night Long,” so he could finish while sitting down. Even so, he pushed through and completed the show before heading straight to get medical help.

Doctors are trying to figure out if dehydration caused his symptoms. Friends say Richie’s just being extra careful and he’s hoping to be out by Tuesday. For now, his team hasn’t shared any official word about his diagnosis.

This isn’t the first health hiccup for Richie lately. Back in June, he was rushed to the hospital after he started feeling strange and dizzy during a performance in St. Paul, Minnesota. That time, he had to call off the rest of the show and delay a couple more before getting back onstage.

Richie’s still on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire for their “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour, which has been drawing huge crowds all across the country. Next up for him is supposed to be a show in San Francisco on September 26, but after this hospitalization, no one’s quite sure what will happen with the upcoming dates.

Fans everywhere are worried—understandably so. Richie’s a legend, with a career that goes back decades and songs like “Hello,” “Say You, Say Me,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” and “Endless Love.” The news has prompted a wave of support and well wishes from people rooting for him to bounce back soon.
